The stage greeting for the fifth chapter of the popular anime remake series, "Space Battleship Yamato: Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199," titled "The Incandescent Galactic War," was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) on January 23rd, where Nobuhiko Okamoto, who plays Tokugawa Taisuke, appeared. Tokugawa Taisuke is the son of Yamato's first chief engineer, Tokugawa Hikozaemon, and has also appeared in "Space Battleship Yamato 2199" and "Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage," but this was Okamoto's first time appearing on stage for a "Space Battleship Yamato" series event. Okamoto expressed his joy, saying, "I'm so happy I'm standing here, I wonder if it's okay. It's an honor. 13 years have passed since 2199, and I'm standing here. It's very moving."
Regarding the character he plays, Tokugawa Taisuke, Okamoto said, "He plays the role of a mood maker, speaking with emotion. I imagine him as someone who can change the atmosphere. Among the young characters, Taisuke is the one who has the strangest voice. I never thought I had the attribute of having a chubby voice, so I'm happy about that."
The stage greeting was attended by Koichi Yamadera, who plays Desler, Horie Shun, who plays Isidor, Director Yamato Naomichi, and Director General Fukui Harutoshi, and was hosted by Nakamura Eriko, who plays Kiryu Mikage.
Okamoto and Horie also co-starred in the show's video project "Today's Science Beginners," and Horie said, "I never had a conversation with Okamoto in the main story, but we did a lot of skits."
"Yamato 3199" is a reimagining of the original works "Be Forever Yamato" and "Space Battleship Yamato III," with a new interpretation added. Harutoshi Fukui serves as general director. There are seven chapters in total, with the fifth chapter set to premiere on February 20th.
