The latest installment in the Spider-Man series, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (directed by Destin Daniel Cretton), starring British actor Tom Holland, will be released simultaneously in Japan and the US on July 31st. The film will be screened in premium large formats including SCREENX, 4DX, ULTRA 4DX, MX4D, Dolby Cinema, and Dolby Atmos, and it has also been announced that the SCREENX screening will be the first ever "Shot For SCREENX" film. Along with this announcement, posters for each format, hinting at the awakening of Spider-Man's "great power" and the biggest action in the series' history, have also been released.
◇The first work shot using a camera specifically designed for SCREENX.
"Shot For SCREENX" is a project that aims to achieve high quality and a high level of completion by designing a work from the planning stage specifically for SCREENX and shooting it using a camera dedicated to SCREENX. This work is the記念すべき first work in this project.
By more faithfully expressing director Cretton's intentions and the worldview of the film, and by maximizing the unique appeal of SCREENX, which projects images not only onto the front screen but also onto the left and right walls, the audience can become more deeply immersed in the world of the story than ever before.
Through carefully selected SCREENX scenes, lead actor Holland says, "We've definitely captured the best action we've ever done," allowing viewers to fully experience the dynamic action of Spider-Man as he speeds through the streets of New York City.
Along with this, a special video was released. Director Cretton revealed, "For the first time ever, the SCREENX team participated in the filming process and shot special footage just for this film," and added, "This is a first-of-its-kind challenge, and we created it especially for the audience. It's something very unique that no one has ever experienced before, and I hope everyone will enjoy it." The video shows confidence in the visual experience of this first-ever "Shot For SCREENX" film.
◇The large-format poster features acrobatic movements
In addition to 2D (subtitled/dubbed) and SCREENX (2D subtitled/2D dubbed), this film will also be screened in a total of 12 versions across 7 different formats: 4DX (3D subtitled/3D dubbed), ULTRA 4DX (2D subtitled/2D dubbed), MX4D (3D subtitled/3D dubbed), Dolby Cinema (2D subtitled), and Dolby Atmos (2D subtitled).
The newly released large-format poster visual showcases Spider-Man's acrobatic movements, highlighting his extraordinary physical abilities.
The SCREENX version's visual shows Spider-Man, web-swinging, soaring through the streets of New York City, raising expectations that the web-swinging action, which everyone has seen at least once, will be depicted dynamically in the latest film.
The Dolby Cinema version's visual shows Spider-Man performing his signature landing in front of a mysterious group of ninjas in red attire wielding Japanese swords. The image is full of tension, as if announcing the start of a new battle.
The 4DX version's visuals create an unsettling atmosphere, with Spider-Man appearing to manipulate countless webs, or perhaps even be bound by them. His body, stretched to its limits against a red background, hints at Spider-Man's struggle with a "new power" evolving in solitude, and suggests that he will deliver an unprecedentedly grueling and thrilling action sequence.
◇A new chapter begins: Spider-Man faces the threat and trials of an "invisible enemy."
The latest installment in the series, the first in five years, is a new chapter following the trilogy starring Holland: "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017), "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (2019), and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021).
Four years after the events of the previous film, "Spider-Man: No Way Home," Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man (Holland), has made the ultimate sacrifice to keep his loved ones safe from danger by erasing all memories of him from people around the world. He continues to protect New York City alone as the "friendly neighborhood" Spider-Man. One day, his DNA mutates, causing physical changes that threaten his life, and inexplicable crimes begin to occur frequently in the city. The threat and trials of an "invisible enemy" loom...
The trailer for this film, which premiered worldwide in March, became a hot topic, surpassing 1 billion views in just four days, but the full scope of the story remains shrouded in mystery. Viewers eagerly await further information on the changes that will befall Peter, his relationship with Avengers member Bruce Banner/Hulk, the full extent of the villains that keep attacking, the threat and trials of the "invisible enemy" that befall the isolated Peter, and the outcome of his reunion with his beloved MJ and best friend Ned. "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" will be released nationwide on July 31st, distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
