The second episode of the new TV anime adaptation of Motoei Shinzawa's comedy manga "High School! Kimengumi," which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) in the 1980s, titled "New Semester: Deadly Self-Introductions/Battles Without Rules: Classmates Team Up," will air on Fuji TV's anime slot "Noitamina" at 11:30 pm on January 16th. The TV anime adaptation of the series aired from 1985 to 1987, and this will be the first time it has been adapted into an anime in about 39 years.
"New Semester: Deadly Self-Introductions" isn't about a middle school explosion, but rather a week after graduation, when the high school they enroll in somehow finds a group of middle school alumni gathered together. New, unique classmates join the group, but Rei, who was excited and woke up early for his first day of school, is nowhere to be found. In "Battle Without Rules: Classmate Unity Edition," Makoto somehow manages to ask Yui out on a date. However, Chie and her friends, Nikai Do, and of course the Kimengumi gang join in, adding to the fun. At the bowling alley, for some reason, the classmates end up in a bowling match with Yui as the prize.
The new anime will be directed by Kazuaki Seki, known for films such as "Blank Canvas: My So-Called Artist's Journey" and "Beethoven Fabrication," and produced by Animation Studio Seven. The Tomokazu Seki Seki, Go Reikoshi, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Chiaki Kobayashi Oma, and Kikunosuke Toya.
The original series began as "3-nen Kimengumi" in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1980, and was renamed "High School! Kimengumi" in 1982 as the characters progressed to higher education. It's a slapstick school comedy featuring the Kimengumi, a group of five middle school students: Ichidou Rei, Reikoshi Go, Idese Kiyoshi, Oma Jin, and Monohoshi Dai, along with Kawa Yui and Uru Chie. The TV anime, which aired from 1985 to 1987, also gained popularity with its theme song, sung by Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi, a spin-off unit of the idol group Onyanko Club.
