A screening event celebrating the 10th anniversary of the popular anime series "KING OF PRISM" was held at Shinjuku Wald 9 (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) on January 8th, featuring Junta Terashima, who plays Ichijo Shin, and General Director Masakazu Hishida. When the first film, "KING OF PRISM by PrettyRhythm," was released on January Getsuku, 2016, it started small, with just 14 theaters, including Shinjuku Wald 9. The number dwindled to just 9 theaters in its second week of release, but a major turnaround occurred thanks to popular support screenings and word-of-mouth, primarily on social media. Regarding the 10-year-old series, General Director Hishida revealed, "There was a miracle that happened in late January. When I took the stage for a talk in the second week, only about 70% of the seats were filled. I thought it was going to end, but it's a very moving experience, seeing as it's been going on for 10 years."
Looking back on about 10 years ago, Terashima said, "I was nervous. It was my first time greeting people on stage, so I didn't even know what to say." He thanked his fans, saying, "King & Prince have been by my side for 10 years, which has allowed me to continue singing. They have become a treasure to me. Thank you everyone."
When asked to announce his aspirations for the 10th anniversary, Director General Hishida wrote, "Retirement," "Rest," and "Health," and said, "I think it's time for me to appear on stage. I want to hand over the baton to the producers at Tatsunoko," "I want to take a rest," and "I want to continue to stay healthy."
Terashima announced that she had lost weight, saying with a smile, "Ten years ago, before a stage greeting, I was told, 'If I gain any more weight, I'll be replaced,' so I lost three or four kilograms. Ten years have passed, and now I look so good in a kimono."
On this day, it was also announced that a special event would be held at Keio Arena (Chofu City, Tokyo) on June 28th.
Terashima said, "This is an important work that has given me many experiences. It's super lucky that now that we've reached the 10th anniversary, it feels like we're starting a festival, not a finale. It couldn't have been achieved by luck alone. It was created with everyone's thoughts," and once again expressed his gratitude to the fans and staff, calling out, "Now is the time to go global! Let's spread the King & Prince circle to the world! Let's all create the best festival!". At the end, Terashima shouted together with the fans, "World, this is King & Prince!"
"King of Prism" is a spin-off of the TV anime "Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live," which aired from April 2013 to March 2014, and depicts the dedication of Kamihama Kouji, Hayami Hiro, and Nishina Kazuki as they devote themselves to singing and performing. The animated film version, "King of Prism by PrettyRhythm," was released in 2016, and "King of Prism -PRIDE the HERO-" in 2017.
In 2019, "KING OF PRISM -Shiny Seven Stars-" was broadcast as a TV anime, and a theatrical edit was also released. "KING OF PRISM ALL STARS-Prism Show☆Best Ten-" and "KING OF PRISM -Dramatic PRISM.1-" have also been screened. "KING OF PRISM -Your Endless Call-Everyone Sparkle! Prism☆Tours" was released in June 2025.
