Actor Kentaro Ito recently attended a press conference in Tokyo for the drama series "Drama Choose! 'Rakudokudokukon'" (TV Tokyo, Tuesday midnight, 12:30am), which will begin airing on January 6th. He spoke about his impressions of the role he plays, an "adulterous husband."
The drama is based on Mei Yamada's manga "Rakutou Tokkon ~The Talented Woman is Chosen~," which became a hot topic for its depiction of an "ugly pregnancy battle between an ex-wife and a current wife." Chiharu (Rio Uchida) marries psychiatrist Tsukasa (Ito) after many years of dating, but is unable to have children, and is feeling depressed. Then, a young woman named Emiru (Yurika Nakamura), who is pregnant with Tsukasa's child, appears before Chiharu... and so the story unfolds.
The drama has the catchphrase "All the characters are villains," and the dark plot is sure to be a highlight. When asked who plays the worst role among Uchida's Chiharu, Ito's Tsukasa, and Nakamura's Emiru, both Uchida and Nakamura chose Ito's name.
Uchida explained that Tsukasa is "the epitome of someone you really don't want to date," and Nakamura said of his impression of him, "After he has a relationship with another woman, it's immediately obvious by his absent-minded reactions."
Ito also mentioned herself, commenting on the role of Tsukasa, "It's a character who has relationships with multiple women. It's really awful." She continued, "So this time I'm prepared for people to think, 'What's with that guy?' The more people say that, the more I think, 'I've won,' because he's such a terrible person."
Finally, he appealed, "Although this is a drama about how people fall asleep before going to bed, it is an interesting entertainment piece that can stir the emotions of those who watch it, so I hope you will look forward to watching each episode."
