It has been revealed that Mana Ashida, who voices the protagonist Princess Scarlet, will sing the ending theme (ED) for the latest animated feature film " Scarlet " (released November 21st), directed by Mamoru Summer Wars , known for such works as "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and "Summer Wars." The ending theme is titled "Endless," and Hosoda wrote the lyrics. A special promotional video featuring Ashida singing "Endless" as Scarlet has been released on YouTube.
For the latest film, Taisei Iwasaki, who won the Japan Academy Award for Best Original Score for Hosoda's "The Dragon and the Freckled Princess," served as sound supervisor, coordinating the film's overall sound, including the music, dialogue, and sound effects. Iwasaki composed the ending theme, "Hateshinaki," and said, "I only decided on the beginning and ending notes for the song, and there were parts where the rhythm in between wasn't specified. I had Ashida sing that part based on her own sense, but I adjusted it so that it matched the final part perfectly with the music. That's why it has a melody that only Ashida could sing."
To commemorate the release, it was also announced that four special programs will be broadcast that will analyze " Scarlet." A special program in collaboration with Nippon Television's news program "news zero," "News Zero Special Edition: ' Scarlet ' - Towards a New Era of Japanese Animation" (Kanto local), will be broadcast from 3:00 PM on November 15th.
"The birth of ' Scarlet ' as seen by Mana Ashida, Masaki Okada, and Koji Yakusho and Mamoru Hosoda's challenge" (Kanto local) will be broadcast from 2:30 pm on December 6th, "Four years surrounding ' Scarlet' - Mamoru Hosoda's new challenge" (Kanto local) will be broadcast from 2:35 am on November 17th, and "Four years surrounding ' Scarlet' - Mamoru Hosoda and Taisei Iwasaki's world of film music" (Kanto local) will be broadcast from 2:55 am on November 18th.
The theme of the latest film is based on the original story and script by director Hosoda. After her father was killed and her revenge failed, Scarlett once again attempts to exact revenge on her nemesis in the Land of the Dead. The Land of the Dead is a place where if Scarlett does not achieve revenge on her nemesis and reach the "endless place," she will become nothing and disappear, and so she embarks on an endless journey of revenge. Ashida will voice Scarlett, and Masaki Okada will voice Hijiri, a modern-day Japanese nurse who travels with Scarlett.
