It has been announced that "Ultra Seven," a timeless masterpiece from the special effects drama "Ultraman" series, will be broadcast on NHK BSP4K from December 5th.
NHK BSP4K began broadcasting 4K and HDR remasters of the "Fantasy Special Effects Series" in April of this year. Following "Ultra Q" and the currently airing "Ultraman," the third installment is "Ultra Seven."
This film has captivated many fans with its challenging sci-fi worldview, which depicts the battle against alien invaders, its deep human drama, and its high-quality special effects. This timeless masterpiece is reborn in the modern Reiwa era with vibrant colors and expressions.
Moritsugu Koji, who played the lead role of Moroboshi Dan, commented, "The setting of 'Ultra Seven' was based on the 1980s, and when it was broadcast it was a story of the 'future'. It's amazing that such a work has been brought back to life with the latest technology of the 2020s! It's very detailed, and instead of a flat landscape, there is depth in the foreground and background, and the sense of perspective is amazing. Things that weren't shown before become visible, so even in places where it was dark and you couldn't see the expressions, you can see them very faintly. I think it will be interesting to compare it with previous footage. The vividness and delicacy are simply amazing! Please enjoy the 4K remastered version."
"Ultra Seven: Fantasy Special Effects Series" will begin airing on December 5th at 6:35pm. Two episodes will be broadcast every Friday. There will be a total of 48 episodes.
