Model and actor Meru Nukumi as "Meruru," appeared with lead actor Ryohei Suzuki at the opening day stage greeting for the theatrical version of "TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room - Nankai Mission" (directed by Aya Matsuki) held in Tokyo on August 1st. Ikumi, who appears as a member of the "Nankai MER" team in the film, made everyone laugh when she talked about the differences between the "Nankai MER" team and the "TOKYO MER" team.
During the talk, Suzuki revealed, "When everyone gathered backstage earlier, someone saw the TOKYO (MER) team chatting away and said, 'There are a lot of extroverts, aren't there?'" Then Emma Miyazawa from the Nankai MER team raised her hand and explained, "The atmosphere was completely different from when it was just our group. The tension was completely different, so the three of us (Ikumi-san, Takasugi Mahiro-san) said, 'We really are extroverts, aren't we?'" At this point, Ikumi looked at Takasugi-san and asked for his agreement, saying, "Nankai is an introvert, isn't it?" Nanao immediately chimed in, saying, "I looked closely at Mahiro-kun and said, 'You're an introvert, aren't you?' (laughs)," making the audience laugh.
The stage greetings were made by Yosuke Eguchi, Kento Kaku, Yuriko Ishida, director Matsuki, and surprise appearances by Ayami Nakajo, Shinya Kote, Hayato Sano, and Phong Chi. Suzuki commented with deep emotion, "Not only the Nankai members, but also the members of TOKYO MER who have been fighting since the drama were all gathered together to greet everyone. I feel that I will never be happier than this again." He concluded by saying, "As a form of entertainment among major Japanese films, I would like to personally declare with confidence that this is a work that will represent this summer vacation," drawing applause.
The film is a sequel to the 2023 feature film version of the TV drama series "TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room," starring Suzuki. The story is set in the vast ocean spanning Okinawa and Kagoshima. Nankai MER is established to travel to the islands floating in the ocean between Kagoshima and Okinawa, and TOKYO MER's chief doctor, Kitami (Suzuki), and nurse, Kuramae (Nanao), are seconded there. One day, a massive eruption occurs on a volcanic island, putting the lives of all 79 islanders in danger. The new MER members take on the biggest mission in history to save all lives... This is the story.
