The 76th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan " (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 a.m. and others), starring Mio Imada , was broadcast on July 14th, and Yagi Shinnosuke, played by Satoshi Tsumabuki, reappeared for the first time in four weeks since the 60th episode (broadcast on June 20th), which became a hot topic among viewers.
In the 76th episode, it is the last day of a business trip to Tokyo. Nobu (Imada) and Takashi (Takumi Kitamura) find Maki Tetsuko (Toda Keiko), the "Queen of the Underpass". Tetsuko heads to a shared room where women are gathered, asking for help. A rough-looking man comes in, but Nobu bravely confronts the men, pointing his camera at them. Just in time, the police arrive and the commotion is calmed, and Tetsuko scouts Nobu, asking, "Why don't you work at the place I'm looking for?"
On their way home, Nobu and Taku are walking through the black market when a boy snatches Nobu's camera and runs off. Nobu chases after him in a panic, and sees a man who has caught the boy who stole the camera. The man returns the camera to Nobu, tells him, "Bad adults are making homeless kids do snatch thefts. Please forgive them," and tells the boy, "It's wrong to steal other people's things." Taku rushes to the scene, sees the man, and mutters, "Private First Class Yagi..." It is Yagi Shinnosuke, Taku's former comrade-in-arms in the Kokura Regiment during the war.
Yagi distributes bread rolls to the children who have gathered and reads "The Rock Bottom" by the Russian literary master Maxim Gorky. Yagi and the children laugh together. Taka mutters, "Writing 'The Rock Bottom' to children... That's typical of Private First Class Yagi," and explains to Nobu, "He was a very kind man to me in the army," and "He's a bit of an oddball, as you can see."
After the children left, the 76th episode ended with Taka calling out to Yagi, "Private First Class Yagi. It's been a long time."
On social media, there were a flood of comments such as, "A hero who saves starving children," "So you were Anpanman after all," "Satoshi Tsumabuki's smile is the best," "I didn't know Yagi-san could make a face like that," and "He doesn't look down on children, but faces them as equals and builds a relationship with them. He's so cool."
