The trailer for the revival screening of the movie version of the anime "Anne of Green Gables", "Anne of Green Gables: The Road to Green Gables", has been released. 15 new theaters will be added, and the revival screening will be limited to two weeks from May 30th at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) and 81 other theaters.
The film version was released in 2010 and is a re-edited version of episodes 1 to 6 of the 50-episode TV series, which was directed by the late director Isao Takahata himself. It will be screened as part of a revival screening project organized by Filmarks.
The anime "Anne of Green Gables" is based on Montgomery's masterpiece. The story follows Anne, a sensitive young woman who uses her imagination to turn even sadness into joy. The story follows her growing up despite repeated failures with her family and friends. The TV anime, directed by Takahata, was broadcast in 1979 as the fifth installment of the "World Masterpiece Theater" series.
