On March 21, it was announced that Toyoda Minoru's manga "Kore Kaite Shine", which was also selected for the Manga Taisho 2023 and the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award, will be made into a TV anime. The anime is a "manga x high school girl youth story" and will be broadcast on Nippon TV. A teaser visual was also released, depicting the main character, Ankai So, living surrounded by blue skies and seas on Izu Ojima, which is modeled after the author's hometown, Izu Oshima.
Original author Toyoda commented, "It's being made into an anime! During my first meeting with the production side, they asked me, 'What do you want me to pay attention to?' and I think the first thing I said was, 'I want you to think about the beauty of the island first and foremost.' Just as I requested, the picture of the island that I was shown during the check was incredibly beautiful. I am also very much looking forward to seeing the girls moving freely in this space. I will be waiting with excitement along with everyone else."
The series began serialization in Gessan (Shogakukan) in 2021. It depicts a high school girl who is fascinated by manga, forming a manga study group with her friends, and struggling to find what she wants to draw. The protagonist, Ankai So, is a high school freshman who lives on Izu Ojima, an island off the coast of Tokyo, and loves reading manga. After a certain incident, she becomes interested in drawing manga. Six volumes of the comic have been released, with a total circulation of over 430,000 copies. The latest volume, volume 7, will be released on April 11th.
