New cast members have been announced for the NHK Taiga drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS （Toyotomi Brothers!）" (NHK General, Sundays at 8 PM, etc.), starring actor Taiga Nakano. It has been revealed that Takashi Naito, Mayu Tsuruta, and Riku Onishi will be appearing in the drama.
Naito will play Saito Toshimitsu. Saito Toshimitsu was a chief retainer of the Akechi family. Possessing both intelligence and courage, he was Mitsuhide's right-hand man, who placed immense trust in him. He played a leading role in the "Honnoji Incident" and the "Battle of Yamazaki".
Tsuruta will play the role of Kichijo. Kichijo is the proprietress of a brothel in Kyoto. She became close friends with Koichiro and Fujikichiro when Hideyoshi was serving as the magistrate of Kyoto.
Onishi will play the role of Yoichiro Hashiba. Yoichiro is the only child born to Kei and her late husband. After his father's death, he lived with his grandparents, but was later taken in by Koichiro and raised as the eldest son.
Saito Toshimitsu, Kichijo, and Yoichiro are said to be key figures in the upcoming "Honnoji Incident" and the "Battle of Yamazaki" where Hideyoshi and Mitsuhide will clash.
"BROTHERS IN ARMS （Toyotomi Brothers!）" is the 65th Taiga drama. With Toyotomi Hidenaga (Koichiro) as the protagonist, it depicts the miraculous feat of unifying Japan together with his older brother Hideyoshi (Tokichiro) through their strong bond, a success story of dreams and hopes.
