It has been announced that Season 3 of the TV anime "Grand Blue Dreaming," based on the manga serialized in "good! Afternoon" (Kodansha), will begin airing on TOKYO MX and other channels from July 6th. Season 3 will be set overseas for the first time, and a promotional video has been released showing Iori and his friends going to Iori's family home to get their passports so they can go to the tropical island of Palau. His sister Shiori, who is waiting at home, is reluctant to hand over the passports, and then a mysterious German woman named Karina and her group also show up.
The PV also featured snippets of the opening theme "Natsuko" by the music unit "FUNKY MONKEY BΛBY'S (Funmon)" and the ending theme "Hadaka no Mermaid" sung by the idol group "Mameshiba no Taigun," produced by Kuro-chan of the comedy trio "Yasuda Dai Circus."
In Season 3, the Dolphin diving shop opens a branch in Palau, but they are short-staffed, and Nanaka asks him if he would come and help out.
"Grand Blue Dreaming" is based on a manga by Kenji Inoue, known for "Baka and Test and Summoning Beasts," with illustrations by Kimitake Yoshioka. The story follows Iori Kitahara, who moves in with his uncle by the sea when he goes to university, and meets passionate men who dedicate their youth to scuba diving, as well as his beautifully growing cousin. The comic has sold over 11 million copies worldwide.
The TV anime's first season aired from July to September 2018, and its second season aired from July to September 2025. A live-action film starring actors Ryo Ryusei and Atsuhiro Inukai was released in August 2020, which also garnered attention.
