It has been revealed that Riku Onishi will play the grown-up version of Yoichiro, the only son born to Kei ( Riho Yoshioka ) and her deceased husband, in the NHK Taiga drama " BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!) " (NHK General, Sundays at 8pm, etc.), starring actor Riku Onishi.
After his father's death, Yoichiro lived with his grandparents, but was later taken in by Koichiro (played by Nakano) and raised as the eldest son. This marks Onishi's first appearance in a Taiga drama in three years, since he played Mori Ran in "What to Do, Ieyasu" in 2023.
Onishi revealed, "From the moment I decided to audition, I had a strong desire to show how much I had grown since the last time, and I went into it determined to do my best to be able to appear in a historical drama again. When I was chosen for the role, I was truly happy, and at the same time as feeling grateful to be able to participate in the production, I also felt a sense of responsibility."
Regarding his role, he said, "Yoichiro has a strong desire to help his father, so I am consciously trying to portray that feeling fully. I want to cherish each and every scene until the very end and give it my all."
"BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)" is the 65th Taiga drama. With Toyotomi Hidenaga (Koichiro) as the protagonist, it depicts the miraculous feat of unifying Japan together with his older brother Hideyoshi (Tokichiro) through their strong bond, a success story of dreams and hopes.
