The music video for "Plazma," the theme song for the theatrical pre-release version of "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-," the latest work in the popular anime series "Gundam," written by singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu, has been released on YouTube. "Plazma" is a new song written, composed, and arranged by Yonezu, who also drew the jacket himself, and the music video was directed by video director Sho Yanagisawa. The music video does not contain any spoilers from the theatrical pre-release version.
Yanagisawa, who worked on the music video, said, "What made a particularly strong impression on me during our discussions with Yonezu about the music video was the phrase 'initial impulse.' From there, I imagined a picture of a girl encountering 'something' that she will become passionate about for the rest of her life. I thought that if I could express that image using an underwater set and ultra-analog optical illusion techniques, it would create chemistry with the song! So I timidly proposed it to Yonezu, and he replied at the speed of lightning, 'I'd like to try it!!' and the video was completed with that passion and impulse."
The song was released on January 20th and quickly reached number one on every streaming site.
