It has been revealed that all episodes of "GTO," a dramatization of the popular manga by Toru Fujisawa, starring actor Takashi Sorimachi, will be broadcast in one go on Family Theater on January 13th, Coming of Age Day.
The serial drama "GTO" (Kansai TV/Fuji TV), starring Sorimachi, aired from July to September 1998. It is a school drama about Onizuka Eikichi, a former legendary leader of a motorcycle gang and now a teacher, who uses his unconventional behavior to tackle problems at his students and school. The average viewership rating for all 12 episodes (households, Video Research survey) was a high 28.5% in the Kanto region (35.7% for the final episode). Nanako Matsushima played the heroine, and young Kubozuka Yosuke, Oguri Shun, and Fujiki Naoto also appeared. The theme song "POISON~In this world where we can't say what we want to say~", written and sung by Sorimachi, was also a big hit.
The drama special that was broadcast in 1999 was also very popular, and in April last year, it was revived for the first time in about 26 years as a new special drama, "GTO Revival," which garnered a great response.
Family Theater will broadcast all 12 episodes of the TV series from 8:50 a.m. on January 13th. The drama special will be broadcast from 7:25 p.m., and the "GTO Revival" will be broadcast from 9:05 p.m.
