The documentary program "The Backyard: A Hidden Journey into the Labyrinth of Knowledge," which aired on NHK Educational TV and featured Tennoji Zoo, located near Tsutenkaku Tower in Osaka, will be rebroadcast on August 6th at 10pm. Proceeding deeper into the zoo, you'll find yourself in an African savanna zone, where you'll forget you're in a big city. Furthermore, it's strange to see carnivores next to herbivores. Let's explore the secrets behind the scenes...
The program's reporter was Sayuri Matsumura , a former member of Nogizaka46 who was born and raised in Osaka. We headed to a zone where you can experience the immersive feeling of being in the animals' habitats. There, you can see giraffes, zebras, and lions all together. Why? What we discovered behind the scenes was a special device designed to allow visitors to fully enjoy the ecology of the animals.
We also visit the site of the ecological survey and research of black rhinos, which is a major focus of the zoo's efforts. We also cover the surprising efforts being made to breed a pair of male and female rhinos, and explore the wisdom of urban zoos.
