Since its debut on February 2, 1976, TV Asahi's long-running program "Tetsuko's Room" (Monday to Friday, 1:00 PM) has featured Tetsuko Kuroyanagi hosting conversations with celebrities and popular people from various fields. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the show's broadcast in February of this year, the second installment of the "50th Anniversary Deep Dive Special" will be broadcast on August 6 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The first episode, which aired in May, looked back at a wealth of rare footage of famous actors and stars such as Morishige Hisaya, Takakura Ken, Ishihara Yujiro, Masakazu Tamura, Tamura Masakazu, and Matsuda Yusaku. This time, the series will focus on singers and idols, showcasing a selection of rare footage from over 12,500 episodes.
First up is a special feature on the appearances of singers who shone in the world of music during the Showa era. Kuroyanagi and special supporter Matsuko Deluxe are excited to see footage of Pink Lady, Momoe Yamaguchi, Kenji Sawada, Hideki Saijo, Teresa Teng and others in their younger days, exclaiming, "So cute!" and "So nostalgic!"
The program also showcases memorable moments from artists who have had huge hits in the Heisei and Reiwa eras, including Princess Princess, Yuzu, Perfume, Hoshino Gen, Aimyon, and Ado. Looking back at the video, Kuroyanagi is surprised by her own free-spirited remarks. "I didn't think I was saying anything 'out there'... It's shocking to see it now. That was rude..." she says, showing signs of remorse. Matsuko then chimes in, saying, "Tetsuko is pretty much just saying 'out there' (laughs). But that's what makes her funny!"
The idol special will also feature fresh footage of Seiko Matsuda, Masahiko Kondo, Naoko Kawai, Shibugakitai, Shonentai, Wink, Iyo Matsumoto, Minako Honda, and others.
Also appearing in the studio were guests Naoko Ken and Goro Noguchi, who debuted at the same time as Ken. There was also a scene where Kuroyanagi made the show's signature "unreasonable request" to Noguchi.
