The 93rd episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan " (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others), starring Mio Imada , was broadcast on August 6th, in which Meiko ( Nanoka Hara) confesses her feelings to Kentaro (Fumiya Takahashi), whom she has had feelings for for many years. The subsequent developments left viewers in shock.
In the 93rd episode, Meiko takes part in the preliminary round of the singing contest with the support of Nobu (Imada) and Takashi (Takumi Kitamura). She starts singing "Tokyo Boogie Woogie" smoothly, but when Kentaro shows up at the venue, Meiko stops singing.
When Meiko gets home, she tells Nobu, Takashi, and Ranko (Yuumi Kawai) about the results, saying, "I'm sorry I couldn't live up to your expectations." At that moment, Kentaro, who had been invited to the after-party, arrives and says, "There are still qualifying rounds to go, so do your best again. Next time, I'll be there to cheer you on properly from the beginning." When Meiko replies, "As long as you support us, Kentaro, we'll keep failing," Kentaro shakes his head and says, "What happened? Meiko hates me so much. What did I do?"
Ranko, who had been listening to their conversation, asks Meiko, "How long do you intend to keep your feelings a secret?" As Meiko, unable to bear it any longer, tries to go back into the house, Kentaro chases after her, saying, "I'm such a fool, I'm sorry I didn't notice," and "I'm really so dumb," before apologizing, "I'm really sorry."
Meiko tearfully conveys her feelings, saying, "I've always...always loved Kentaro. I still...still love him. Whenever I see Kentaro, my heart feels bright. He's as dazzling as the sun."
Kentaro said, "That's what I thought about Meiko. When I was running my shop in the black market, Meiko came to see me and while listening to the radio show she said she loved 'Amateur Singing Contest'. That's what got me to Tokyo and joining NHK. Maybe Meiko wanted to make a show that would bring even more joy," and the two of them held hands and laughed.
A little over six months later, Kentaro and Meiko are happily married. Nobu and his friends, who were unable to attend the wedding in Kentaro's hometown of Hakata, Fukuoka, celebrate the couple at a cafe, and Takashi gives them a wedding gift of a picture he drew of the couple getting married in Gomenyocho, Kochi.
Meiko's first love finally comes true. The whirlwind events from confession to marriage have led to comments on social media such as, "Meiko and Take-chan are finally united in tears," "Yummy! Congratulations," "Meiko did a great job -- I wish her happiness," "These are such sudden developments," and "The events are happening so quickly!"
