It has been announced that the TV anime "Witch Watch," based on the popular manga by Kenta Shinohara, currently being serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will be broadcast in the MBS/TBS Sunday 5pm anime slot starting in April 2025. It will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons.
It was also announced that additional cast members will include Mikako Komatsu as Yuri Masuku, Rie Rie Takahashi as Kara Minami, Konomi Kohara Kohara as Kukumi Ureshino, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Tenryu Kiyomiya.
Masukuwa Yuri is the homeroom teacher of Wakatsuki Nico and Otogi Morihito (Morihito), and Komatsu, who plays him, commented, "Once Masukuwa starts talking (in his mind), he can't stop, so he's a lisp. I think it all comes down to his excitement, his voice and the ability to speak freely, so he's a lisp. He switches between his inner voice and the voice he speaks out loud with a great tempo, so he's a lisp. His exchanges with Ureshino-san are very lisp, very lisp, very lisp."
Minami Kara (Kara) is a classmate of Nico and Morihito, and Takahashi, who plays the character, said, "I grew up laughing a lot at Shinohara-sensei's works, so I'm very honored to have been given the opportunity to play such a fun character as Kara this time! During dubbing, I always give my all to the director's entertaining directions. In the original work, Gara is a bright and cheerful character, but by moving and speaking, I hope to make her even more intense and liven up the atmosphere around Nico!"
Ureshino Kukumi is a classmate of Nico and Morihito, just like Kara, and Ohara, who plays her, said, "At first glance, she seems like a quiet and gentle girl, but...she has a restless side to her, and I was both excited to play her and very nervous (laughs). When I played the role, I felt more of Kukumi's humanity and felt more affection for her. I wonder how it will turn out when it airs? I'm really looking forward to it."
Kiyomiya Tenryu is the student council president of Asunaro Private High School, the school Nico and her friends attend. Matsuoka, who plays the character, sent a message saying, "It's a role that I can play naturally, so even if the president is a strange person, is this really normal? I tried to make it feel like this is normal for the student council in this world...! But he has had a lot of hardships... so I hope everyone will be kind to him."
A promotional video was released on YouTube that gives a glimpse into the unpredictable and difficult life together of Nico and Morihito. The promotional video also features the four characters who have been announced as cast members.
