It has been announced that "Mononoke Prequel: Two-Headed Woman," a stage play serving as a prequel to the three-part theatrical film series " Mononoke: The Mononoke ," based on the popular TV anime " Mononoke, " will have a special theatrical screening on June 27th. The screenings will take place at TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro (Toshima-ku, Tokyo), TOHO Cinemas Namba (Chuo-ku, Osaka), and Midland Square Cinema (Nakamura-ku, Nagoya). As a special gift for attendees, a clear bookmark featuring a photograph from the stage will be distributed.
" Mononoke: The Movie Prequel - Two-Headed Woman" is a completely original episode unique to the stage, supervised by Kenji Nakamura, the general director of the "Mononoke: The Movie" series. It depicts the story of the Medicine Seller before he visits the Ooku (women's quarters of the Edo Castle). Actor Hironori Araki plays the Medicine Seller, and the play was performed in May of this year.
"Mononoke: The Movie" is set in the Ooku (women's quarters of Edo Castle), a place swirling with the passions of women, and follows a medicine seller as he tries to uncover the true identity of the "Mononoke." "Mononoke" is an anime produced by the same staff who worked on the popular episode "Bakeneko" from "Ayakashi," which aired on Fuji TV's Noitamina anime block in 2006. It aired on Noitamina in 2007. The story depicts a supernatural tale in which the medicine seller who appeared in "Bakeneko" confronts a Mononoke.
