It has been announced that singer Kana Nishino will be appearing as a member of the Red Team at the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, which will be broadcast on New Year's Eve. This will be her first appearance on Kouhaku in about six years, since 2018. This will also be her first performance on television since resuming her activities in June this year.
Nishino made her first appearance at the Kohaku Uta Gassen in 2010, and continued to do so for nine consecutive years until 2018. The following year, she announced a hiatus, then married an ordinary man and gave birth, before resuming her activities in June this year for the first time in about five years.
Nishino commented, "I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to appear in the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen. I took a hiatus from activities in 2019 and resumed my activities this year for the first time in about five years. This year has been a very memorable one, with me holding a comeback concert, and I am very happy to have the opportunity to sing on such a wonderful stage to close out 2024. I will do my best to sing so that as many people as possible can enjoy it. Thank you very much!"
