A teaser video for the official spin-off anime "Rascal the Raccoon," a spin-off of the classic anime "Rascal the Raccoon" that aired in 1977, "Rascal the Raccoon," has been released on YouTube. Narrated by Masako Nozawa, who played Rascal in the "original" "Rascal the Raccoon," the video shows a raccoon that looks like Rascal gazing intently at the Earth from space while solemn background music plays. When asked how she felt about receiving this offer, Nozawa responded with a single word: "Mee!"
"Rascal the Raccoon" is being produced as a 50th anniversary project for Nippon Animation, the company behind "Rascal the Raccoon." It will feature a star-studded cast of voice actors, including Junya Junya Enoki, Kensho Ono, Kensho Ono, Kenjiro Tsuda. It will be broadcast in 2025.
"Rascal the Raccoon" is based on the novel "Harukanaru My Rascal" by Sterling North. It was broadcast in 1977 as the third installment of the "World Masterpiece Theater" series. Set in Wisconsin, the story depicts the year that the main character, a young boy named Sterling, and the raccoon Rascal spent together.
