To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the serialization of Tsunoda's popular horse racing manga "Midori no Makibao," a new spin-off short anime "Dokodemo Makibao" will be distributed from December 16th. Inuko Inuyama, who played Unkotarezo (Midori Makibao) in the TV anime, Shigeru Chiba, who played Chubei, and Toshiharu Sakurai, who played Sugasuke, will continue to play their roles.
The spin-off anime was produced as the first of the second season of "Sukimano Anime," a short anime distribution project by KDDI and DLE, and will be distributed on YouTube, X (Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram every Monday and Thursday at 7 a.m. It will be directed by FROGMAN, known for "Secret Society Eagle Talon." Makibao, Chubei, and Sugasuke will take part in various "races" hidden in everyday life, such as "a battle for gourmet food from a department store, limited to the first one to arrive" and "who can pick up the most trash on the beach," and compete against familiar rivals in this silly yet passionate race comedy.
Original author Tsunodamaru said, "I was excited but also nervous about how much of a mess they would make of "Midori no Makibao" by remaking it with FROGMAN's worldview, but I was relieved to find that the cast (Inuyama Inuko, Chiba Shigeru, Sakurai Toshiharu) were an ironclad lineup that would protect the original worldview! Please enjoy the offensive and defensive battle between the cast as they fool around while also protecting the characters in the wildly antics of FROGMAN's world!"

"Midori no Makibao" is a popular manga that was serialized in the manga magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1994 to 1998. It depicts the exploits of Midori Makibao, a thoroughbred racehorse with the blood of a famous horse, but with the appearance of a donkey. A TV anime aired from 1996 to 1997.
