The seventh episode of the popular detective drama "Aibou Season 23" (TV Asahi, Wednesday 9pm) entitled "The Revenger Doesn't Smile" was broadcast on December 11th, and recorded an average audience rating of 9.8% for households and 5.5% for individuals (according to Video Research, Kanto region, same below). This was the first broadcast of the drama in two weeks.
"Aibou" is a detective drama in which Ukyo Sugishita (Yutaka Mizutani), a member of the Metropolitan Police Department's "Special Investigation Unit," solves many difficult cases with his partner, using his genius mind to solve his case. Since its launch in 2000, four partners have been created to date: Kameyama Kaoru (Yasufumi Terawaki), Kobe Takeru (Mitsuhiro Oikawa), Kai Toru (Hiroki Narimiya), and Kanjo Wataru (Takashi Sorimachi). In "Season 21," Kaoru, the original partner, returns to the Special Investigation Unit. This marks the 10th season for Ukyo and Kaoru as a pair.
In episode 7, former First Investigative Division member Shinsuke Miura (Ryosuke Otani) reappears.
A stabbed body is found in a park in Hachioji. The victim is a man named Oshimi who was wanted for the murder of his ex-girlfriend 29 years ago and has been on the run. The statute of limitations has expired, but the First Investigation Division begins an investigation, believing that someone connected to the 29-year-old incident is involved.
Meanwhile, Ukyo (Yutaka Mizutani) receives a call from Miura, a former member of the First Investigation Division. After a brief reunion with Kaoru (Yasufumi Terawaki), Miura makes an unexpected request... and so the story unfolds.
