The 31st episode of the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama , entitled "My Name is Heaven", was broadcast on August 17th, depicting the final moments of Fuku (Utsusemi), played by Ono Karin Ono. Ono revealed her thoughts after finishing her role as Fuku, saying, "I feel very happy."
Fuku lived as a prostitute in the Matsubaya brothel in Yoshiwara until she met Oda Shinnosuke (Inowaki Kai) and ran away. After that, she lived as a farmer, but became a refugee after the eruption of Mount Asama, and is struggling to make ends meet with the help of Tsutaju (Yokohama). She has just had a baby (Toyobo) with Shinnosuke.
In episode 31, Fuku suddenly passes away along with his child. A man who was struggling to get food broke into a house to steal rice, causing a tragedy that led to his unexpected departure.
Still, Ono says, "I think Fuku's life had a happy ending."
"She escaped with the person she loved, survived, and had a child. I think she was a very rare, happy girl. So, although there were many difficult times, I think I was very happy. If there is one big regret, it is that Toyobou died with her, which is so sad. If Toyobou had survived together with Arata, and I could have hoped for a future for the two of them, I might have been able to give up at some point."
What kind of person was Shinnosuke to Fuku?
"Shin-san really loved me all the way through, so I didn't feel uneasy being by his side. In that sense, I think he was able to die knowing that everything would be fine even if he was gone. Of course, it was sad to say goodbye, but the two of them cared about each other until the very end, and that feeling never wavered. I think that was a great gift I received from screenwriter Yoshiko Morishita."
