A new trailer and stills have been released for the movie " Emergency Interrogation Room Room THE FINAL" (directed by Yuki Amami Jota, to be released on December 26th), the final installment of the detective drama series " Emergency Interrogation Room " (TV Asahi), starring actress Amami Yuki. It has also been revealed that the script has been significantly revised from the original story.
The film was originally scheduled to be released on June 16, 2023, but was postponed due to Toho's "comprehensive judgment," and a "reboot" was announced last year with some cast changes. For the reboot, the script was significantly revised and reshoots were underway.
"Emergency Interrogation Room" is a popular series in which the Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Division's "Emergency Case Response Interrogation Team (commonly known as Kintori)," led by Amami-san's veteran interrogator Yukiko Makabe, engages in a back-and-forth psychological battle with violent criminals. Since its launch in 2014, the series has garnered popularity with four serial drama series (January 2014, April 2017, April 2019, July 2021) and two special dramas (September 2015, January 2022).
In the finale of the series, the violent Morishita Michihiro, played by Sasaki Kuranosuke, attacks Prime Minister Nagauchi Yojiro, played by Kanji Ishimaru. When Kintori is urgently called in to interrogate him in order to quickly resolve the case, Morishita not only refuses to reveal his motive for the crime, but also repeatedly makes the reckless demand that he "bring the Prime Minister to the interrogation room." As the investigation reaches an impasse, a "certain suspicion" emerges about Nagauchi, and in order to uncover the truth, Kintori sets out to interrogate Nagauchi... This is the story.
The new trailer shows Osanai laughing fearlessly, and Makabe saying with a powerful expression, "This is our final struggle." The two newly released stills are contrasting images of Osanai giving a press conference, and Osanai confronting Makabe and Koishikawa (played by Fumiyo Kohinata) in an interrogation room.
Amami commented, "In the showdown with the Prime Minister, played by Ishimaru, we will all unite and fight, putting our pride, mission, and justice as Kintori on the line. After all, he is the Prime Minister. We will be fighting against the pinnacle of the Metropolitan Police Department organization. All sorts of conflicts and wavering will arise. I think that thanks to Ishimaru playing the Prime Minister, the conflict with his beliefs has become deeper and more intense. I am truly grateful to Ishimaru."
Ishimaru said, "It was like a dream to be able to take part in the film version titled 'THE FINAL' as an important antagonist. I arrived on the first day of filming feeling so nervous and excited that I even thought it was strange that I would be taking on such a huge responsibility 35 years after my debut. Nagauchi will be a thick wall standing in Kintori's way. To what destination will this fierce and cool battle lead the team? I hope you enjoy the thrilling developments."
