The main cast of the TV anime "Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!", based on the "classic BL romantic comedy" manga by Harudoo, has been announced, with voice actors Kobayashi Chiaki playing Nakamura Okuto, a first-year high school student, and Sakakibara Yuki playing Hirose Aiki, the girl Nakamura falls in love with at first sight with. It was also announced that Yamaguchi Kappei and Takeuchi Junko, who played Nakamura and Hirose in the audio drama version of the work, will appear in the anime. The characters played by Yamaguchi and Takeuchi will be announced in the future.
Kobayashi commented, "I think it's surprisingly difficult to know when to use the word 'Ganbare'. You want to use it when you want to encourage someone, but you wonder if it's okay to use it on someone who is already trying hard, or if it sounds bossy. But Nakamura-kun, who I'm playing this time, is shy and clumsy, but a really kind-hearted hard worker, so I think the word 'Ganbare!' suits him best in the world. So I hope everyone will cheer him on, saying 'Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!' I'm really looking forward to the broadcast myself. Thank you!" Sakakibara said, "It's a great honor. Hirose Aiki, who I'm playing, is the kind of boy who brightens up the room just by being honest. His dislike of crooked things is wonderful, and I can really understand why Nakamura-kun is attracted to him. I'll do my best to fully convey his charm to everyone!" Yamaguchi said, "So, for some reason, I have been accepted to take part in 'Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!' It's a unique love comedy with a bit of a '90s feel! How will I appear? I'm looking forward to it too."
Takeuchi sent a message saying, "Congratulations on the decision to make 'Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!' into a TV animation. The Nakamura-kun world is sprinkled with nostalgia and a snappy tempo. I will also continue to participate in the audio drama version. I will enjoy it with all my heart and soul! Please look forward to how I appear. Let's enjoy the Nakamura-kun world together on air!"
The series is a hot topic, depicting the delusions and rampages surrounding the unrequited love of shy high school boy Nakamura Okuto for his male classmate Hirose Aiki, in a nostalgic 1980s-90s style. It is serialized on the website Comicple (Heroes).
The anime will be directed by Umeki Aoi, who served as series director (co-director) of "Pop Team Epic," and will also be in charge of the script and character design. Drive, which has also produced "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World! 3" and "Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi," will produce the anime. It is scheduled to air in 2025.
