It has been announced that "Kishibe no Album," a stage adaptation of the classic drama written by the late Taichi Yamada, featuring a star-studded cast including Satomi Kobayashi, will be available for pay-per-view streaming on WOWOW On Demand and other platforms starting May 4th.
"Kishibe no Album" is a classic drama series written and written by Yamada, which aired in 1977. The story follows the Tajima family, a seemingly peaceful middle-class family, as they undergo a transformation from collapse to rebuilding following a certain event. The final scene also garnered much attention.
The stage version features a script adaptation by Yu Kuramochi and direction by Hana Kino. Ms. Kobayashi plays Noriko, the mother of the Tajima family, and Tetsuta Sugimoto plays Kensaku, the father. In addition, Kanata Hosoda plays Shigeru, the eldest son, and Yu Imou plays Ritsuko, the eldest daughter. Furthermore, the people surrounding the Tajima family are played by Ko Maehara, Shima Ise, Omi Natsuki, Seiichi Tanabe, and others. The play has been running at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre (Toshima Ward, Tokyo) Theatre East since April.
The stream will be available for a limited time from 3 PM on May 4th (the final performance) until May 17th. The price is 4000 yen, and it will be streamed on WOWOW On Demand, PIA LIVE STREAM (Ticket Pia), and other platforms.
◇Story
The Tajima family, who own a detached house along the Tamagawa River embankment, appear to be a peaceful and ordinary family of four. The mother, Noriko (played by Satomi Kobayashi), is a housewife. She is busy with daily chores and spends her days with little conversation outside of her interactions with her family. One day, while she is home alone, she receives a silent phone call. At first, she thinks it is just a prank call, but after repeated calls, she eventually begins to talk to the caller (played by Seiichi Tanabe).
Father Kensaku (Tetsuta Sugimoto) is a trading company employee who is completely devoted to his work. His work-centered life gradually widens the gap between him and his family. His daughter Ritsuko (Haruka Imou) is engrossed in studying English conversation at university. She is proud and puts on a brave face even towards her family. Their son Shigeru (Kanata Hosoda), a high school student preparing for entrance exams, is not very focused on his studies, but one day he unintentionally learns about the hidden circumstances of his three family members and is greatly confused. He tries to do something about it with his youthful sense of justice, but... Eventually, each of their problems comes to light and the Tajima family is on the verge of collapse. Then a typhoon approaches...
