NHK has announced that it will broadcast "Legendary Concert: Misato Watanabe," a special feature on singer Misato Watanabe, on NHK BS from 5:30 p.m. on December 6th.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Watanabe's debut, and her nationwide tour is reaching its climax. The stadium live concert that she has been making her life's work since the year after her debut is a summer concert at Seibu Lions Stadium (now Belluna Dome).
The first concert in 1986, which was held over a 20-year period, initially attracted a lot of attention in the music scene as the first stadium concert by a female singer. This time, we present a 4K remastered version of the 2005 concert in which she took to the stage as her "final chapter."
The event was held on August 6th, 2005, and attracted nearly 40,000 fans, including guests including fellow musicians who have known her for a long time. Highlights of the event included a special medley of over 30 minutes of songs released every year since her debut, as well as a number of hit songs that had the entire audience singing along, showcasing her appeal as an artist to the fullest.
The program will also be broadcast on BSP4K from 5pm on January 3, 2026.
