The Japanese trailer, poster, and two stills for "28 Years Later: The Temple of Skeletons" (to be released on January 16, 2026), the sequel to the thriller film "28 Years Later" (to be released in June 2025) directed by Danny Boyle, have recently been released.
This film is a sequel to the survival thriller "28 Years Later," which shocked the world and was produced by Academy Award-winning director Boyle and Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Alex Garland.
28 years ago, a virus that instantly renders humans violent spread in London, resulting in many deaths. Spike (Alfie Williams), a boy born and raised on the isolated Holy Island, which escaped the virus, meets Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes), who has survived on the mainland, and watches over his sick mother. He then chooses to live alone on the British mainland, where the virus is rampant.
At the end of the previous film, Spike was nearly attacked by an infected person but was saved by the "Jimmies," a violent blonde cult led by Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell). However, what Spike received was not salvation, but further despair in a world without salvation... This film is a continuation of the hit series, which depicts the world "28 years after the terrifying outbreak of infection," and depicts the most terrifying "essence of evil" in the series' history.
The released footage shows a number of infected people who are terrorizing humanity, including the large and violent infected Alpha, as well as significant and eerie scenes such as the Jimmies, a cult led by Jimmy, and Dr. Kelson, a former doctor who seeks symbiosis with humanity, performing a crazy ritual in a ``Bone Temple'' made of piles of human bones.
Furthermore, the Japanese version of the poster features a strange image of Dr. Kelson looking up at the sky, accompanied by the tagline, "Fear is the new faith."
