Anna Nakagawa, a former NHK and freelance announcer, will appear on the special program "Ariyoshi Hiroiki's Super Naruhodo! The World" (Fuji TV), which will be broadcast from 9:30 pm on January 1, 2026. She will visit Colombia in South America with Sakura Inoue, who is also from the same agency.
The destination for this trip is Islote, known as the "world's most densely populated island." Nakagawa, who spent his childhood in Puerto Rico, showed off his fluent Spanish. He also revealed that the show's first MC, Eriko Kusuda, is a relative, surprising the studio members with this unexpected connection to the show.
The two stayed with a host family for two days and one night, experiencing the real daily life of the island with the highest population density in the world, including the crowded houses, life in limited space, and unique infrastructure. At the aquarium, the only popular tourist spot, wild sharks and sea turtles are kept free to swim among them. Nakagawa and Inoue also changed into swimsuits and went underwater to report on the experience.
Inoue commented, "I was constantly amazed at how different life can be on the other side of the world, even though we live on the same planet and are the same human beings! At the same time, I also realized that there is no such thing as a 'standard of happiness.'"
Nakagawa recalled, "I lived in Puerto Rico, located in the Caribbean Sea, for four years from the age of 10, so the moment I arrived in Cartagena after a long journey, I was overcome with a strange feeling that made me want to say, 'Ah, I'm back! I'm home!' This was the first time I met my senior at the agency, Inoue Sakura. I'm older than her, but in terms of the length of time I've been with the agency, I'm a rookie in my first year. This was my first overseas location shoot since becoming a freelancer, so I was nervous, and she was a very reassuring presence."
The show will be hosted by Ariyoshi and Rino Sashihara. Reporting from India will be the comedy duo Time Machine No. 3, and from Chongqing, China, Idota Jun of Speedwagon and Matsukura Kaito of Travis Japan.
