The TV anime "Yomi no Tsugai," based on the latest work by Hiromu Arakawa, known for "Fullmetal Alchemist," will enter its second season starting July 4th. The key visual for the second season has been released, depicting Sayuu-sama engaging in a fierce battle with Ivan, and Yuru holding a bow and arrow, his sharp gaze fixed on his enemy.
The main PV, which includes scenes such as the mysterious man Ivan attacking Higashimura and confronting the elder Yamaha, and Kyoka entrusting a mission to Danji, Yuru's childhood friend, has also been released on YouTube. Danji, who is seen running around the mortal world with the mysterious new character Oshirasama, who looks like an alien, also makes an appearance.
It was also announced that for the second season, Masanori Otoda will be in charge of the opening theme "back shot" and Kei Sugawara will be in charge of the ending theme "Kujaku". Otoda commented, "This is a new song titled 'back shot'. It is a song that I wrote quietly on the theme of the distrust and hypocrisy, the 'hidden side of humanity' that I have felt throughout my life. Yuru has a pure heart that cares for the person he cherishes, and outsiders try to take advantage of it. In this world, who can you really trust to live with? I hope you will listen to it while experiencing a variety of emotions along with this wonderful anime."
Sugawara said, "Is it ego, or is it love? I don't care about that anymore. I can't help but pray for that wavering, uncertain hope. I just want you to live. I sang with such a complex yet utterly straightforward obsession. It's a work I've loved and followed for a long time even before I was offered the role, so after reading the letter I received from Onda and listening to the song, I felt like I was having a discussion about 'Yomi no Tsugai' on my own while I was recording. It was really fun!"
"Yomi no Tsugai" is the story of Yuru and Asa, twins born as "night and day separated." It has been serialized in "Monthly Shonen Gangan" (Square Enix) since December 2021, and the comic series has sold over 6 million copies in total.
The TV anime is being produced by Square Enix, Aniplex, and Bones, the same companies that produced the "Fullmetal Alchemist" anime series. Masahiro Ando, known for directing "Sword of the Stranger" and "Blast of Tempest," is directing. It is currently airing on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other channels.
