The final episode (episode 5) of the NHK Saturday drama "Mushoran Mitsuboshi" (NHK General, Saturdays at 10 PM), starring actress Eiko Koike, will air on June 27th. The subtitle of the episode is "The Last Recipe." Yoko (Koike), a registered dietitian at the prison, decides to create a new donut recipe for a booth at a correctional exhibition.
"Mushoran Mitsuboshi" is based on a masterpiece non-fiction book by Keiko Kuroyanagi, a currently working prison nutritionist, which depicts the little-known state of food inside prisons. The story follows a protagonist who made a name for himself as a skilled Italian chef, but by chance ends up working as a prison nutritionist, and depicts his struggles to overcome troubles and commotions with prison guards and inmates behind bars. It is a "prison social comedy drama."
In the final episode, Yoko is shocked by a sudden turn of events involving inmate Takeda (Yoichi Nukumizu), but she changes her mind when she hears from Sugiyama (Aoi Nakamura) that Takeda wanted to make fried chicken for his daughter. A few days later, the kitchen team is scheduled to set up a booth at the correctional exhibition, which opens the prison to the public, and Yoko decides to create a new donut recipe.
As the kitchen staff are getting excited about the upcoming correctional exhibition, a TV crew comes to film, but the television broadcast triggers an unexpected situation.
