The 64th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Bakebake " (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others), starring Akari Takaishi , was broadcast on December 25th, and viewers were captivated by the scene in which Ginjiro (played by Kanichiro) proposes to Toki (played by Takaishi) again.
In episode 64, Toki and Ginjiro are enjoying a rendezvous when they bump into Heaven (Tommy Bastow) and Eliza (Charlotte Kate Fox) at Gesshoji Temple, along with Nishikori (Ryo Yoshizawa), who has tagged along. Nishikori acts as an interpreter, and the five introduce themselves to each other.
When Heaven heard that Toki knew the ghost story of the "Big Turtle," she got very excited and exclaimed, "Is there a ghost story?!" and "Please tell me!" When Ginjiro and Eliza found out that Toki was telling ghost stories to Heaven late every night, they were jealous and said, "Every night?!" and "Just the two of you..."
Toki immediately began telling a ghost story. When Nishikori tried to translate, Heaven stopped him, saying, "I don't need your help." Toki and Heaven were completely immersed in their own world, while Ginjiro, Eliza, and Nishikori left the room.
Eliza said, "He's always been like this. When it comes to the things he likes, he loses sight of what's going on around him. That's probably why he has the literary talent and concentration. But on the other hand, he's a coward who can't fall in love with people." She added in surprise, "If he doesn't take the plunge, our relationship will remain the same. That's why I came all the way here. But I was surprised. He's blended into this place. He's changed..."
Although Ginjiro didn't understand English, he muttered, "I think I understand what Eliza is saying," and watched Toki as she told the ghost story.
Later, while walking along the lake with Toki, Ginjiro interrupts Toki as she talks about Heaven, saying, "The ghost stories in Tokyo are amazing, too." He then mentions the ghost story rakugo "Botan Doro," which he once promised to go hear together, and says, "Because I promised, that's why I haven't heard it yet. Let's go hear it together, in Tokyo. I want to start over with Toki-chan."
On social media, people were saying things like, "What will Otoki-chan do?", "It's so sad," "It's heartbreaking," "I empathized with Ginjiro and it really hurt my heart," "He continued to think about Otoki without being influenced by Tokyo...how much!?", "He really did continue to think about Otoki-chan wholeheartedly...," "Good luck, Ginjiro...," "I really hope they find happiness," and "It's hard to watch how things develop from here..."
