It has been announced that the TV anime " Hana-Kimi ," based on the popular girls' manga by the late Hisaya Nakajo , which was also adapted into a live-action drama, will be broadcast on TOKYO MX, BS11, and other stations starting January 4, 2026. Additional cast members have also been announced, including Satoshi Hino, who will be appearing as Kagurazaka Shingon.
Hino commented, "I've seen this work on TV dramas and such, so I have some nostalgia for it, and I'm happy to be able to take part in the new TV anime version! I hope that fans of the original work, and those who are new to this work, will enjoy it."
"The character I'm playing, Kagurazaka, has a strong connection with Sano and is a character who is very much a rival to Sano. I hope that you will enjoy his human charm, such as his passion, clumsy kindness, and unique sense of humor," he said.
The series is a school comedy that was serialized in the manga magazine "Hana to Yume " (Hakusensha) from 1996 to 2004. The story follows Mizuki Ashiya , a girl who disguises herself as a boy and transfers to an all-boys boarding school in order to meet her crush, Izumi Sano . She lives her school life without anyone realizing her true identity, until one day her true identity is discovered to be a girl. It was also made into a TV series in 2007 and 2011, which became a hot topic. The anime is directed by Takemura Natsuki and produced by Signal MD. The cast includes Aya Yamane Mizuki Ashiya , Yashiro Taku as Izumi Sano, and Kikunosuke Toya as Nakatsu Shuichi.
