The new season of NHK's science documentary program "Dark Side Mysteries" will begin on November 7th on NHK BS. The program will air "Multiple Personalities: Billy Milligan - Uncovering the Mysteries of the Human Mind" at 9:00 PM on the same day. The program focuses on Billy Milligan, "the man with 24 personalities," and explores the mysteries of personality through an unprecedented suspense story.
At a time when it was believed that there was only one personality in one body, the world was shocked by the phenomenon of multiple personalities (dissociative identity disorder). In 1977, it was discovered that American serial killer Billy Milligan had multiple personalities, including that of an 8-year-old boy, a 19-year-old woman, a refined Englishman, and a violent Eastern European.
What personality is the culprit? Can the trial bring him to justice? How will society respond? Through this unprecedented suspense, we explore what the mind is, what personality is, and what the mysteries of the human psyche are.
The program will be hosted by Chiaki Kuriyama, narrated by Joji Nakata, and the theme music will be composed by Akiko Shikata. The program will be hosted by announcer Masato Ikema.
