It was revealed on October 3rd that Nakajima Runa, an actor and exclusive model for the teen media magazine "Seventeen" (Shueisha), will star in the film "Tore!", which is scheduled for release on January 16th, 2026. The film is a coming-of-age horror directed and written by Kouichi, a popular video creator on the YouTube channel "kouichitv." This will be Nakajima's first lead role in a feature film, and she will play the protagonist, Sato Misaki, a third-year high school student. Also appearing in the film are influencer Maikichi, actors Wada Masanari, Miyaji Mao, and Okina Megumi.
"Tore!" marks Koichi's directorial debut as a feature film. Misaki (Nakajima), a third-year high school student, and her best friend Satsuki (Maikichi) post a video on a video sharing site hoping to make a quick fortune, but when a spirit-like object accidentally appears in the video, it quickly goes viral. However, as the video gains advertising revenue from the buzz, it escalates. The story goes that they end up being possessed by a "god" dressed in traditional Japanese clothing with a mask-like face... Wada plays the psychic Toma Asano, Miyaji plays Satsuki's mother Mieko Hashimoto, and Okina plays Misaki's mother Masami Sato.
The lead actress, Nakajima, is 18 years old and was born on October 10, 2006, in Kumamoto Prefecture. She was selected as the grand prize winner at the Shochiku JAPAN GP GIRLS CONTEST held in 2021. After appearing in the 2022 drama series "Prayer's Chart: A Trainee's Mysterious Examination Record" (NTV) and the 2023 film "But, Chihiro-kun is Too Sweet," she is also currently appearing in the NHK Taiga drama "UNBOUND : Tsutaju Eiga no Yumebanashi."
Nakajima commented, "While this work depicts the fear and eeriness of humans and paranormal phenomena, it is also a story about the protagonist taking a step towards the future. Possessed by a god, she makes horror videos with her friends and is torn between fear and her own heart, but in the end she finds a small hope. I would be happy if the viewers are also given the "strength to move forward" along with the fear!!"
Director and screenwriter Koichi said, "This is my first feature-length film as a director. I wrote the script so that it would be enjoyed mainly by students around the same age as the main character. I think it's a coming-of-age story that even people who don't like horror can enjoy. I hope that people will watch as the main character, whose future options increase after he goes viral online, struggles to regain control of his life!"
