It was revealed on September 21st that the three-member unit Perfume will be going into "cold sleep" (hiatus) at the end of 2025. The announcement was made on their official website and elsewhere, with the group commenting, "We hope to come back more powerful, so we would appreciate your continued support until the day we can meet again."
Perfume is a three-member unit consisting of A-chan, Kashiyuka, and Nocchi. Formed in Hiroshima in 1999, they made their major debut on September 21, 2005, with the single "Linear Motor Girl." They broke out in 2007 with the single "Polyrhythm" and have appeared on the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen 16 times. At the end of last year, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their major debut and the 25th anniversary of the group's formation, they embarked on a nationwide arena tour, performing a total of 23 shows in 11 cities. On September 22nd and 23rd, they will perform at Tokyo Dome, their final solo concert before going on hiatus.

Live performances are at the heart of all Perfume's activities. We gather at the same time and place as you all, giving everything we've got to resonate with you, and every time we stand on stage, our hearts burning, knowing that this may be the last time we experience such a miracle. Our time with you all is irreplaceable and gives us meaning in life.
"To leave our shining legacy in history" was one of Perfume's dreams.
And now, in order to mark this moment when we can proudly say that we are "shining," we will put Perfume into cold sleep starting in 2026. No matter what form Perfume takes, as long as we are the three of us, we will be Perfume forever. If we are going to be together for a long time, we have decided to mark this time so that we can move on to new challenges as an even better, cooler Perfume.
Even if we were suddenly told that Perfume activities would start tomorrow, we have been training our minds and bodies every day to be able to act immediately, and now that we have reached our 25th anniversary, this is the first time we have had the opportunity to focus on our individual lives and discover a new side of ourselves. We have never experienced such a time before, nor have we ever thought about it this way, so we think we will start with rehabilitation (laughs). The three of us have decided to take on the challenge and move forward.
The many scenes we've created together will continue to inspire us, and will surely continue to shine upon us whenever we feel weak or about to give up. We are truly grateful to everyone who supports and encourages us. We've continued as Perfume without a single break, so we'd be happy if each of you could take a little time in your own lives. We hope you'll support us as we make our new dreams come true.
