The completion ceremony for the fourth chapter, "Sasha," of " Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199," the latest installment in the remake series of the popular anime " Space Battleship Yamato ," was held on September 19th at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo). "Yamato 3199" is a work that acts as a mirror reflecting society, and Makoto Furukawa, who plays Alphonse, passionately stated, "I want people to see it in this day and age." General Director Fukui Harutoshi revealed, "I never thought it would fit in with the world to this extent."
Director Fukui revealed his thoughts on "Yamato 3199," saying, "The first Yamato came at the end of World War II and provided war education to prevent wars from starting again. Yamato is a work that teaches us something in each era. We have not yet been able to make a comprehensive assessment of the COVID-19 pandemic. One important role of fiction is to think about what we should do next."
Also appearing on stage to greet the audience were Kuwashima Houko, who plays Mori Yuki, Megumi Han, who plays Sasha, Nakamura Eriko, who plays Kiryu Mikage, and director Yamato Naomichi.
"Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199" is a new interpretation of the original works "Be Forever Yamato" and "Space Battleship Yamato III." Harutoshi Fukui will serve as general director, and will also be in charge of series composition and scriptwriting. Fukui was in charge of series composition and scriptwriting for the remake series "Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love" and "Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage," and will also serve as general director for this latest film. Naomichi Yamato will direct. There will be a total of seven chapters, with the fourth chapter set to premiere on October 10th.
The first Space Battleship Yamato anime series aired on TV in 1974, and has since been adapted into other films, including Space Battleship Yamato 2, Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato , and Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection. A remake of the first film, Space Battleship Yamato 2199, was screened in theaters and on TV from 2012 to 2014, and the sequel to 2199, 2202, was broadcast in theaters and on TV from 2017 to 2019. A two-part series, 2205, was screened in theaters in 2021 and 2022.
