A special video has been released for Tron: Ares (released October 10th), the latest installment in the American film series Tron, known as the world's first feature film to fully utilize CG (computer graphics), 15 years after the original, in which lead actor Jared Leto and other cast members, as well as director Joachim Rønning, reveal behind-the-scenes stories from the filming.
"Tron" (1982, directed by Steven Lisberger) became a social phenomenon, depicting the story of Kevin Flynn, a genius programmer who is sent into a digital world and takes part in a life-or-death game. 28 years later, in 2010, the sequel "Tron: Legacy" (directed by Joseph Kosinski) was released, featuring Kevin's son Sam as the main character, and captivated many fans with its cutting-edge visuals at the time, based on a pale blue neon glow.
In the latest film, "Tron: Ares," an AI program is successfully materialized in the real world, resulting in the development of the most powerful humanoid AI soldier, Ares. The AIs become uncontrollable and begin to run wild. As the digital world encroaches on the real world, something strange happens to Ares, who has come into contact with "humans" in the real world. Will Ares become the savior of humanity? This is the story.
The newly released special footage begins with director Ronning saying, "We're taking Tron into the real world." Director Ronning reveals behind-the-scenes details about the filming of the Lightcycle riding scene, which involved closing off Vancouver at night for six weeks. The director also reveals his commitment to using footage shot with actual cameras in addition to the latest CG technology to bring realism to the plot in which the digital world "erodes" the real world.
Furthermore, Leto, who plays Ares, expressed his joy at being involved in the film, saying, "I love Tron. I saw this movie as a kid, and now I'm standing there," while Jeff Bridges, who has played Kevin Flynn since the first "Tron" film, commented, "The evolution from the original to 'Tron: Ares' is truly amazing." The film also includes comments from Greta Lee, who plays Eve, who will be heavily involved with Ares, and Gillian Anderson.
