It has been announced that an expanded edition of the original soundtrack for the 1988 animated film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack" (directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino) will be released on March 11th.
The "Original Soundtrack ' Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack' Complete Edition" was released in 2014 and became a hot topic. It added 10 previously unreleased tracks, 11 unreleased alternate takes, and 45 "Movie Sync Edit" tracks to the original soundtrack released at the time of the film's release. The "Movie Sync Edit" is a sound source where the original music has been edited to synchronize with the anime.
As of 2026, the standard edition, which includes tracks not included on the original album, is still on sale, but the three-disc limited edition is no longer in print. The "expanded edition" includes unreleased alternate takes of the discontinued first edition, as well as a "movie synchronized edit."
It was also announced that a limited edition vinyl version of the "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack Original Soundtrack" will be re-pressed and released on March 25th.
