The third key visual for the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama , has recently been released on the official website. This will be the final key visual for the series.
" UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama and depicts the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have laid the foundations for Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, who is known for her work on the highly talked-about "Drama 10: Ooku," which aired on NHK two years ago.
The story begins with the end of the era of Tanuma Okitsugu , and the start of what are known as the "Kansei Reforms," when Matsudaira Sadanobu took the reins of government in the shogunate. Frugality edicts and publishing controls became stronger, restricting even people's enjoyment and culture, but Tsutajyo still looked towards a "stylish, free future" and continued to struggle with her calligraphy. This image is the theme of the visuals, which show Tsutajyo alone, feeling something strong amid the chaos of the people of Edo, and looking somehow fragilely towards the future.
Photographer Keisuke Imamura, who was in charge of the shoot, commented, "I wanted to help capture the strength and transience of the end of the world, along with the emotions of Yokohama Ryusei Yokohama, who has been wearing Tsutaya Juzaburo for over a year."
Art director Kato Hideyuki said, "Designing a taiga drama has been a dream of mine since I became independent. I am very pleased that we were able to create a single world view through repeated dialogue and trial and error with the many staff members involved in the production. I hope that this poster, which was born from the combined efforts of many people, will help to convey the appeal of the work."
