"Akina Nakamori Tribute Night! Night 2," a special feature on singer Akina Nakamori by NHK's music program "The Covers," will be broadcast on NHK BS and BS Premium 4K from 10:50 p.m. on June 8.
"Akina Nakamori Tribute Night!" was held at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA in Tokyo on May 1st, the 43rd anniversary of Nakamori's debut, and will feature the "Akina Nakamori Tribute Concert "Akikyo"," in which Nakamori herself appeared in the audience, as well as rare archive footage of Nakamori and backstage talk after the live performance by concert performers such as Maki Goto, Night Tempo, and Hoshikuzu Scat.
The second night will be centered around the concert, which will build up to a climax. Kiyotaka Sugiyama, who has a deep connection with Nakamori's work, will perform the city pop classics "Kita Wing" and "Mi Amore" in his stunning high-pitched voice. The special session with Yo Hitoto in the second half of "Kita Wing" is also a highlight.
Nakamori finally appeared at the end of the show. It was her first time in front of the NHK camera in 11 years, since the 2014 "Kohaku Uta Gassen." Amidst thunderous applause, roaring cheers, and loud "Akina calls," what did Nakamori say...?
