NHK's documentary program "Document 72 Hours" (General)'s "Year-End Special 2025" will be broadcast from 12:15 pm to 8:42 pm on December 30th (with news interruptions).
This documentary program focuses on a single location each time, observing the various human dramas that occur there over a period of 72 hours. It listens to the stories of people who meet by chance, capturing the current era.
The "Year-End Special" is a regular feature of the show, and this year, the 12th edition, will be expanded to include prime time. Goro Yamada, Osamu Suzuki, and Kazue Fukiishi will be in the studio to announce the top 10 of the year as chosen by viewer votes. They will look back on the past year.
There will also be live coverage from the locations of the ranked episodes, as well as a "trial project" in which viewers will submit comments saying, "I want to see '72 Hours' in a place like this," and the program will be turned into a show. Fans of the show, Akira Kawashima from Kirin, Utadamaru from RHYMESTER, and Haruka Minowa from Harisenbon will announce their favorite episodes in a video clip, and Chan Kawai, who is a big fan of the show, will also report from the location.
Furthermore, passionate fans of "Document 72 Hours" from all over the country will gather in the studio to show their own ways of enjoying the show. At the end, Nao Matsuzaki will perform "The House by the River."
