The 40th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan " starring Mio Imada (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others) was broadcast on May 23rd. In the episode, Nobu (Imada) accepts a marriage proposal from Jiro (Nakajima Ayumu Nakajima), and "Yam-onchan" Kusakichi (Sadao Abe) worries about Takashi (Takumi Kitamura), which became a hot topic among viewers.
In the 39th episode (broadcast on May 22), Taka decides to meet Nobu and tell him his feelings when his graduation project is completed. In the 40th episode, in December 1939, the Yanai family receives a letter from Taka. Hiroshi (Yutaka Takenouchi) smiles happily at the letter, which states with confidence that his graduation project will be his masterpiece.
Meanwhile, Nobu goes to see Jiro, who had proposed marriage to her, and tells him that she is not yet ready to think about getting married and starting a family. Jiro responds by saying that she does not need to quit her job as a teacher, and that he wants Nobu to dream now, in anticipation of what will happen when the war ends. Nobu is unable to think of anything, so Jiro tells her, "Just take your time and think about it. You're fast, so you'll catch up in no time. If there is even the slightest opening for you to live with me, then please marry me."
After parting ways with Jiro, Nobu sees Jiro's words as reminiscent of her late father, Yutaro (Ryo Kase), so she turns around and chases after Jiro, accepting his marriage proposal, saying, "If you're okay with me, I know it's a bit clumsy, but please be kind to me."
When Nobu got home and told her family about it, Kamaji (Kotaro Yoshida) and the others were surprised but overjoyed. Meiko (Nanoka Hara) congratulated her, saying, "Nobu-neechan, congratulations on your marriage!" and Ranko (Yuumi Kawai) also said, "I'm glad you didn't get married too late."
While the family was excited about Nobu's marriage, Yamu-onchan, who was making bread by himself, expressed his concern for Taka, saying, "Oh, I hope he doesn't die... I wonder if he's OK," and the 40th episode came to a close with the narrator, Risa Hayashida, an announcer for the same station, saying, "He'll be OK. Just look at him."
