The long-running Fuji TV music program "SHIONOGI MUSIC FAIR" (Saturdays at 6pm) will feature Seiko Matsuda on her 45th debut anniversary on May 31st.
Matsuda debuted in 1980 with "Hadashi no Kisetsu." He first appeared on the show on May 26, 1981, and has appeared on the show 38 times since. To commemorate his 45th anniversary, he will be playing selected hits and classics from his precious past footage.
Matsuda also sent a message, looking back on the video of his first appearance, saying, "I remember that day like it was yesterday," and reminiscing, "Over the past 45 years, I've come across many wonderful songs and had the pleasure of singing them on this "MUSIC FAIR."
The video traces Matsuda's footsteps over the past 45 years, including footage of his memorable first appearance, showing the fresh smile of a 19-year-old with a hint of nervousness, his 80s hits such as "Blue Lagoon," "Secret Garden," and "Heavenly Kiss," as well as footage from last year of 2020 of him singing "Kaze ni Mukai Ichirin no Hana" and "Akai Sweet Pea English Jazz Ver."
