Suntory's new commercial, "Let's Make This a Wonderful Past: The Conference to Live With Water Forever and Ever," starring Goro Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Shingo Katori, will be aired nationwide from April 12th.
The new commercial starts with three birds, played by Inagaki, Kusanagi, and Katori, flying into a natural forest. They tell children that in order to live with water for the next 100 years, it is important to "have a clock that measures 100 years," "see the whole earth," and "respect nature."
In addition, the web movies "Let's become a wonderful past: A clock measuring 100 years", "Let's become a wonderful past: The habit of looking at the whole Earth", and "Let's become a wonderful past: Respect for Mother Nature" will be available on Suntory's official YouTube channel from April Getsuku.
◇ Interviews with Goro Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Shingo Katori
--In keeping with the commercial that expresses Suntory's determination to continue working towards "living with water forever and ever," please tell us what you, who have been active in the entertainment industry for a long time, do in order to continue to be active for a long time.
Kusanagi: It's gratitude after all. I think that's all there is. Inagaki: Always remember to be humble. Kusanagi: There's only so much I can do alone, or rather, there's nothing I can do alone. Everyone is there, they prepare everything, the costumes, the lighting, the hair and makeup, everything. Everything is connected. If I got too big-headed, I'd lose my job. Inagaki: But we're pretty popular, aren't we? Kusanagi: I think that's because we're humble (laughs). Anyway, I think it's because we're all supported that we can do so many things. Gratitude is the most important thing. Katori: You said everything I was going to say. Inagaki: I see, your thoughts are getting through to me.
--The commercial talks about Suntory's philosophy of "friendship and respect for nature" in order to "live with water forever and ever." Can you tell us about an episode recently when you felt the friendship between the three of you?
Katori: I've never felt friendship until now (laughs). Kusanagi: Zukkkkkkk! Inagaki: Don't say that. I think it's love that goes beyond friendship. Katori: I always feel that. Kusanagi: I've been with you longer than anyone else and we spend time together, but sometimes I want to say "thank you" or something in words. Speaking of which, I gave you two sweets the other day. That's really friendship (laughs). I'm great. Katori: I never say things like that myself. Inagaki: I was just about to say it. The other day, you suddenly brought me a box of sweets, so I was surprised, but those cookies were delicious. Katori: I eat a little bit every day. Kusanagi: I always feel "thank you, Goro, Shingo". Katori: There was a vintage bandana included with the cookies, but it's actually a little hard to use. It's the one someone used to wipe their sweat with. What era is that from? Kusanagi: Around the 1960s. Inagaki: It wasn't used, it was dead stock. I think the fabric was in the factory at the time. It was a gift that was really made with sustainability in mind. Kusanagi: Vintage is the most sustainable. I went to a second-hand clothing store and even though it was private, I thought about the two of them and picked up something that would look good on Goro and something that would look good on Shingo. I even gave them sweets, I'm really awesome (laughs).
