It has been revealed that actor and singer Akira Takano will be starring in the short drama "Omocha de Asobu," which began streaming on YouTube and other platforms on March 26th.
The first in the "Sukidora" short drama project by KDDI and TV Asahi. Titled "Youth Revival Toy Comedy," it depicts adults having fun and relaxing with nostalgic toys.
Takano plays the protagonist, Majime Takashi, a young office worker who grew up in a strict household and has been devoted to studying since childhood, leading a life unrelated to toys and games. One day, after being transferred from the sales department to the general affairs department, he learns of an in-house club called the "Play with Toys Club." He is confused to see the members of the general affairs department, whom he thought were a "group of skilled workers" who only got their work done, playing with toys such as Beyblades, Mini 4WDs, and Tamagotchis with gusto. However, Takashi's life, which he had always felt was "empty," gradually becomes more colorful... This is the story.
The heroine, Ahn Soo-ah, a senior in the General Affairs Department, will be played by Ha Yeon-soo, a Korean actor active in Japan who also starred in the NHK Asadora drama "The Tiger and Her Wings" (2024). She learned Japanese from a yakuza movie, so when she gets excited, she starts speaking in Hiroshima dialect.
Takano said about the series, "I found it funny many times on set. I hope you'll laugh out loud watching the adults playing with toys in a way that makes no sense." The series will have nine episodes, and one episode will be released every Wednesday from the 26th on YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok's "Sukidora" account.
