"Haunted Stories: Summer Special 2025," an anthology of true horror stories that people have actually experienced, will be broadcast on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturdays at 9 p.m.) on August 16th. This time, for the first time in the show's history, a "Most Scary Election" will be held, and six classic stories from the series will be digitally remastered and presented. In addition, one completely new episode will also be broadcast. Goro Inagaki will appear as the leader of the Honkowa Club.
In the 25 years since the show began broadcasting, "Honkowa" has aired 220 true-life dramas. Of these, the 26 that most viewers said they wanted to see again were selected for a "Most Scary Election" on the show's website. As a result, the following six were selected and will be broadcast for one night only.
"The Forest of Yomi" (2004) starring Shun Oguri; "A Stranger" (2004) starring Ueno Masaki Okada ;"The Road of Faces" (2009) starring Sato Takeru; "The Price of Resentment" (2009) starring Ayase Haruka; and "The Woman of S Copper Mine" (2014) starring Ishihara Satomi.
Additionally, a completely new episode, "A Room with a Reason," starring model and actor Natsuki Deguchi, will be broadcast. This will be Deguchi's first appearance on "Honkowa" and her first leading role.
Mai Kasama, played by Deguchi, is asked to help out at the branch of the restaurant where she works. Since she will be staying a long time, a month away, the company has arranged for her to live in an apartment near the branch. However, the room she is provided with is dark even during the day, and there are marks on the wall that look like something has been peeled off, giving off an ominous atmosphere.
Although Mai was bothered by the darkness of the room, she felt at ease as the store where she was helping out was comfortable and the work was not difficult. On the other hand, she was bothered by the fact that the senior who had gone to help out before her had returned after only three days...
Deguchi said, "The ghosts in this film are really scary! During filming, the ghosts came up to us at extremely close range...I hope you'll look forward to seeing what kind of scene it turns out to be."
